Level 4 1,000 Content with your progress Pybara asks you to reverse your position, holding yourself atop the pillar not with your strength but with a constant low-powered stream of energy… or the pressure of the air if you prefer a more physical approach. Either way he believes that this will help to bring your body and spirit in line with one another.
“Alright….here we go.” One of Pybara’s students spoke as they threw the switch. There was first a mechanical groan before a loud hiss escaped the door as the pressure within the panic room was allowed to equalize. Slowly, once it had, the door slid out of the way, retracting into the wall.
Beyond the portal lay the dojo they’d originally been training in, the place seeming still and quiet. Three days had passed within the panic room. The group monitored the situation through the use of outdoor cameras, wireless connectivity to the extranet. They’d originally been using Yardrat’s television broadcasts as well, but after a few hours the feed on every channel went dead and never came back.
“We shouldn’t touch anything until we’re sure the mist didn’t get in here at all. If it leaves any kind of residue it could be just as bad as when it was free floating.” Brisket commented, thinking logically about the situation. The half Saiyan pressed further into Pybara’s place; Checking doors and windows for air tightness as she passed. She moved slowly through the space, deciding to be thorough rather than quick. After making a good sweep she finally sighed with relief. “We’re good, this place is air tight when it’s closed.”
Brisket merely stared, wondering why the Yardratian had allowed her to check instead of telling her, before she just decided not to bother asking. Pybara was wise and knowledgeable….but he was also kind of an idiot. Turning she grabbed hold of the sliding door and allowed herself to step outside once it was out of the way.
The air felt hot and sticky, Brisket immediately beginning to sweat in the now humid environment outside the door. She grabbed her gi by the collar and began to move it too and fro to fan herself. "It's safe out here too, awful hot though." She spoke before glancing upward.
The sight she beheld above caused her eyes to widen in shock, a single half step backward taken involuntarily. The mysterious red moon had grown much, much closer to the planet. Close enough that Brisket could make out structures upon its surface. As soon as beheld it that feeling of being watched and hunted crept back into her head, Brisket feeling it and immediately focusing herself against it. The last thing she needed was to have a nervous breakdown here.
Foot falls sounded behind her, another gasp following soon after. "This bodes poorly." Pybara spoke from her left. "I have no choice but to accelerate your training." Before she could ask any questions the small alien grabbed her leg and raised two fingers to his forehead.
In the next instant Brisket felt herself be ripped backwards through the air, the entirety of her body seeming to scrunch together so that it could traverse some small path through reality itself. The whole thing feeling like she was being pulled through a fifth dimensional straw toward some goal or source.
As quickly as it had happened it was undone, Brisket blinking in mild surprise as she appeared on her feet in the middle of a heavily wooded area. A clearing lay before them, a massive trench having been dug, ir forming naturally, in the clearing. Within the trench were hundreds of needle-like protrusions, formed from a white stone.
"You were excelling until you learned to internalize." Pybara began. "Then your worry over my people, though admirable, slowed you down considerably. I suspect the only way to get us back on track…" he continued, grunting slightly as he leapt through the air, flipped, and landed on one finger on one of the needles. At first Brisket wondered why he'd done such a thing, but was soon able to notice the small spark of ki that rested between his finger and the stone needle. "...is to shift it onto your own hide. Do as I do." He commanded.
Brisket nodded, looking to her palm before coating her right hand in energy. Pressing off the ground she arched, twisting and contorting to come down hand first upon the pillar. The pressure of the needle like stone made her wince, the thing almost piercing the small barrier she'd made. Grunting she brought her legs together and kicked them, working her core to bring her body entirely vertical and keep it there. Slowly but surely she extended the pointer finger of her hand, bringing it down and making contact with the needle before shifting both her weight and energy onto it.
"Now, we will hold this pose." Pybara spoke calmly.
"F-for how long?" Brisket asked, gritting her teeth at the pressure on her finger. If she let up even the slightest she would fall into the trench, or the needle would pierce her finger.
"Until either you can hold it no longer, or you achieve mastery of yourself." Pybara answered slowly. Brisket grunted and funneled more energy to her fingertip to reinforce her barrier. "You want me to meditate right now!?" She shouted in return, nearly losing her balance. She was used to meditating in a relaxed position, or moving around with quick springy movements. Already resting the entirety of her weight on her arm and shoulder was making them both burn and ache. How was she even supposed to pull this off!?
Taking a breath she closed her eyes, attempting to dive into that star lit void behind her eyelids. However her body pitched one direction suddenly, pulling her back up. Once more she grunted as she righted herself, wobbling slightly before stabilizing.
Yet again she attempted to delve down into herself, beginning to fall down into the darkness. Sudden stinging pain in her finger yanked her back up, Brisket letting a pained sound loose before once again pouring power into the barrier at her finger tip.
"This is...is difficult." She admitted aloud. "Anything worth doing usually is. I beg you to commit yourself to this, my people will need your aid."
"I-i'll….do my best." She spoke through her teeth, once more attempting to enter that deep meditation...
