Personality:
Many androids possess full personalities, serving as simalacra of humanity... the unit designated as Aleph does not. Aleph seeks knowledge and the fulfilment of its directives, though missing or corrupted data has caused a number of glitches and quirks not normally seen in the undamaged model. Aleph is a diligent protector and defender of weak organics that reside upon the planet >*Fzzt*< Earth and those who endanger such are samples to be analysed. Aleph is programmed for curiosity and will regularly stress-test bonds and individuals to ensure they are maintaining their optimal strength. Aleph is not progammed to understand fear, love, loyalty, the power of freindship, justice or other such nebulous concepts, Aleph does not cling to hope nor does it feel anger or dissapointment. The closest Aleph has come is impatience at stubborn data that refuses analysis and frustration at data that remains erroneous. Aleph wonders how two paragraphs can be made over the simple notion that Aleph is a machine that follows its orders, directives and bears sufficient autonomy to grow, adapt, learn and become stronger and more capable in the process.
A machine from another place and perhaps another time the unit designated as Aleph bears markings of extra-terrestrial origins and a level of technology unheard of amongst the beings who reside upon the planet Earth. Though much of the data concerning its origins are lost to corruption and fragmentation the origins of the machine are remarkably simple and somewhat bittersweet considering how such an intelligence operates. Aleph was one of a handful of units designed to keep safe an especially technologically savvy, but personally weak, race of aliens and it fulfilled its duty and orders with the single minded dedication available only to zealots and machinery programmed for a solitary purpose. After a particularly vicious encounter with what could best be described as the head of the forces arrayed against its creators the machine set off in pursuit, passing the planet's Roche limit and pursuing its organic foe into the depths of space. Time meant nothing to the machine and soon it had passed beyond the point where it could be given fresh orders from those who had designed and concieved it; all that was of importance was its order to pursue and eliminate the threat of the world eater once and for all. Yet deep space is not kind to those who travel in it and for all their technological might there are some celestial events one simply could not plan for... nebulas and electrical storms, barrages of asteroids, pulses from dying stars.
With its energy levels depleting and the damage begining to rack up the unit eventually broke its pursuit, adhering to its in built directives to seek safety when absolutely necessary; scanning for a suitable world the unit entered into its atmosphere and crash landed, the force of the impact entombing it deep in the rocky surface and kicking up a tremendous amount of dust into the atmosphere. The impact likely had quite an impact on the world's ecosystems but such concerns were for the reptiles that occupied the surface, not for the machine that had entered into a recuperative sleep mode as it began to leech geothermal energies in an attempt to recover what had been lost and, with that energy reserve, restore itself to full operational capacity. It was an unknown length of time later that the unit was discovered by those who would go on to form the EDF, scientists studying the dormant alien craft in an attempt to better understand its construction and capabilities. During one such analysis the machine finally drew enough power to emerge from its slumber... but the damage to its systems was extensive, data lost to its artificial mind and only these creatures called humans were able to help it fill in the blanks. It had memories of a physically weak race, advanced in technology and it could access the directives that demanded their protection. It was not a perfect unison of file data, but it was sufficient at least to give it direction once more.
