Personality: As Chiaotzu does not seem to age, neither does his personality as he remains a happy, childlike, individual. He's exuberant, goofy, joyful and occasionally a little mean. But beneath all of that is the soul of a true hero, willing to push himself to his limits and sacrifice everything for the people that he loves and the planet he calls home.
History: A powerful psychic warrior, Chiaotzu trained alongside Tien under Master Shen of the Crane School. However, after fighting against the Turtle Hermit's students in the World Martial Arts Tournament, the pair came to realize the dishonorable and villainous nature of their teacher. They left the Crane School to help Goku and his friends, fighting alongside their former rivals against the threat of both King Piccolo and the Saiyans. Both times, Chiaotzu fell fighting to help others, and he will do it all again if necessary.
Sample RP:
Chiaotzu sat beneath one of the many waterfalls that flowed through Mount Paozu, his eyes close as the cold stream cascaded down over his head and shoulders. He, along with Tien, had learned a long time ago how to endure the elements and now the little human found the experience somewhat soothing. He emptied his mind of thoughts, worries, and questions, focusing on the sound of the world around him. The water rushed along, paying no heed to him as it found its way over and around him as water so often did. A light breeze came along, rustling the branches of a nearby bush and gathering up several leaves on its way, taking them with it as it passed through. His senses were so finely tuned that he could even hear the fish swimming beneath him, gliding gracefully through the water as they went about whatever activities occupied the time of a fish.
He extended his senses further, feeling the ki that existed in everything. He had honed his ability to detect the energy to the point that he could almost see with it. Chiaotzu could imagine the steady rhythm as the ki flowed through the trees up from the earth itself, feeding and nurturing life, the swirl of light with every breath through a fish's gills, dispersing into the greater whole of the water that surrounded him. It was a beautiful thing, and it was why Chiaotzu was so determined to grow stronger. Innocent and perhaps a touch naïve, he didn't seek power for its own sake. He had seen far too many go down that same path.
No, Chiaotzu wished to grow stronger so that he could protect his world and the people that he cared about. There were great threats just beyond the horizon, he was sure of it. Though every past foe that had sought to destroy the world had failed, thanks largely to Son Goku, that did not mean that Chiaotzu was free from responsibility. It was essential for him to train, to grow, and better himself until he reached his limits. And then, it was even more essential that he shatter those limits and progress even further! Perhaps his goal was outside the realm of possibility, but Chiaotzu had seen more than his fair share of impossibilities.
And so, finally opening his eyes, he began to train.
He started simply, rising from the stone he had sat himself down upon to float above the waterfall. Here, furthest from civilization, Chiaotzu felt paradoxically closer to the world. As he went through the motions of his kata, a practice had had often done alongside his friend Tienshinhan, he considered the forest around him. It was quiet, peaceful, and serene. That was what he needed to be. Every movement had to be precise but effortless, determined but undemanding, like the elements themselves. It was a philosophy that did not come naturally to Chiaotzu, however.
During his time training under Master Shen, he had been taught a different approach. His old master had no regard for life, attempting to mold Chiaotzu and Tien into his personal assassins. It even showed through in his techniques, his kikoho drawing its power from the user's life force rather than from their reserves of energy. It was powerful, yes, but displayed the man's callousness. Chiaotzu was often glad that he had managed to escape the man's clutches and become stronger as a result. Life was what was most important and most precious, and he had realized that when he sacrificed himself in battle.
An hour passed before Chiaotzu finally finished his physical exercise, and he sat beside the lake and meditated for another hour. This was the pace he set for a while, practicing the more physical aspects of his martial art before retreating into quiet contemplation to hone the spiritual side. Both were equally important and given equal care. Harmony was vital to this training and it was the little human's goal to find the perfect path upon this middle ground. If he could achieve absolute harmony with his training, then he could be harmonious in all things. Again, a lofty goal, but Tien often told him that the importance of aiming for the stars was to reach the moon. Perhaps the end of the path would always be on the horizon, but that did not mean that ground wasn't gained. And, of course, it was the path itself that was the most important part.
As Chiaotzu settled in once more, he was shaken from his meditation by a scream ringing out through the otherwise placid forest. Leaping into the air, he flew towards the source, weaving between the many trees to reach his destination. When he arrived on the scene, what Chiaotzu saw nearly froze his blood. Two children, huddled close together, were cornered by a vicious looking bear. It roared, moving steadily closer and advancing on the youngsters. With grim determination, Chiaotzu rushed forward as the beast raised one massive paw. Before it could bring it down, he caught hold of it, his own white hands looking miniscule in comparison to the massive animal.
The bear roared at him in turn and Chiaotzu threw a fast foot into the creature's chest, sending it sprawling across the ground and creating a shallow furrow, kicking up grass and dirt. He had no desire to kill the bear, only to warn it off. However, it seemed rather stubborn as it rose to its four feet and barreled toward him. It's jaws opened, flecks of spittle flying out as it revealed its many, many, sharp teeth. However, Chiaotzu was ready for it. He held his hands out, catching hold of both parts of the raging bear's mouth, keeping it from trying to bite a chunk out of him.
Staring down a bear was often an unsettling experience for most people, but not for Chiaotzu. He had seen monsters, alien invaders who casually took life and laughed when they did so, and to look into the eyes of a primal force of nature was almost relaxing by comparison. He didn't budge an inch even as the bear set its feet, trying to push him to the ground. Instead, he focused his ki, directing it through his palms to release a low-level blast that knocked the bear back again. It wasn't far, but it was enough time for him to do what he needed.
Placing his hands to either side of his head, fingers spread, and pointed toward each other, he locked eyes with the animal again before yelling, ”SOLAR FLARE!” White hot light flashed out before him and the bear was blinded. It bellowed, losing focus, unable to determine where it was or where its prey was either. Instead, in fear, it turned and hurried away, bumping into several trees in its hasty retreat. Chiaotzu, for his part, breathed a sigh of relief and lowered his hands, turning to make sure the two children were alright.
