Personality: Mandar tries to remain respectable to those around him first and foremost. He does have a habit at times to default to formal greetings over the informal, though he is able to slowly open up to people. He tends to give trust, and try to give people the benefit of the doubt over assuming there are ulterior motives for the majority of races. There are some people though whom he has heard enough and seen the results of their touch that he wouldn’t trust them as far as he could throw them.
Mandar doesn’t found it very easy to relax and kick back, normally he tends to keep an eye on his surroundings. He tries to be open minded, and avoid being judgemental whenever possible though he does take into consideration what others have stated has been done. Even with that, he tries to still give someone the benefit of the doubt when possible. When it comes to gaining strength he does it more to protect others, rather than himself. This put him at odds with others in the PTO so he departed ways when he was able to, and he has found himself finding ways to get stronger to help protect others from them as any other threat that may come their way. He is willing to sacrifice himself for the benefit of others more often than he is willing to sit back and let others suffer on his behalf.
History: Mandar grew up on Planet Cold, and was raised there in a more studious environment than one that dealt with a lot of physical training. Even so, while growing up he found that he enjoyed both the book studies as well as the study of the more physical and energy based arts. He didn’t like to just read the tactics he would rather get out and try them out himself, and he often did that. It was on one of these excursions while he was young that he saw how some of the leadership within the PTO treated those subordinates under them, as well as the civilians. The cruelty shown stuck with him throughout growing up and one underlying factor that played into his goal to get off the planet.
It wasn’t that he wanted to run away, but he knew that in this environment he’d end up getting drafted whether he wanted to or not, and that wasn’t something he could do. Following orders was one thing he could do, and he didn’t want to be given those orders that would conflict with his beliefs. As he grew he found more and more ways to do good, though he found that often he paid for it with a beating, and often what he had tried to avoid ended up happening anyways. The fact that he was so weak as to make those attempts to do good was thwarted caused him to work harder in his training, and he was eventually drafted reluctantly.
It was only a year or two into his service though when he found his chance to escape, and he got himself conscripted onto the ship that was going to try finding dragonballs to resurrect the former emperor Frieza. Using that mission as an opportunity he actually took an escape pod when things were a little more hectic and he managed to crash it on Earth. Not really able to travel any further with it, he ended up focusing on how he could strengthen himself as well as see what good he could do on this planet so far from where he had been raised. Yet it also meant he may be able to escape from having to work from the tyranny that he’d heard was the norm under the newly revived emperor Frieza.
Sample RP: The air current blowing through the trees and across the open air of the mountaintop were the only movement and sounds on this crisp morning. Mandars eyes remained closed as he delved further into his mind, examining some of the arts that he’d read about, as well as tactics that he’d been trained. As he wandered through the maze of his mind in his meditation he wasn’t impacted at all really by the cooler, and thinner air up in the mountaints. That was one benefit to the environment he’d grown up in, this was a summer breeze rather than what some would consider an arctic breeze compared to some of the weather he’d grown up in.
After about another half an hour he finally opened his eyes and stood up, his tail brushing across the ground twice as he stretched his limbs a moment. Then a third time he slammed his tail with more force against the ground, and kicked up at the same time. The motion of his tail slamming down helped propel him not only up but forward, as he actually drew his legs up and kicked with his leg almost completely perpendicular to the ground. As he headed back to the ground he kicked off the second his toes touched it, but this time adjusted his angle so he could arc his knee up, and he aimed a palm to the ground and released a small energy blast to allow him to propel himself into a complete arc motion.
As he finished the move, he brought both of his hands together and when his feet touched the ground again he pushed off and drew his arms upwards in a double axe handle strike that he crossed the length of his body. He didn’t stop the motion with that though, letting his momentum continue as he also swiped his tail up and across where his opponent would have been as well before he landed with his hands and feet on the ground. From this angle he pushed up with all four limbs granting himself even more height and he let all four of his limbs shoot out, kicking and punching with each of those limbs. Instead of drawing his hands back in as he did draw his knees in to help control his momentum and adjust his trajectory he fired an energy blast from both palms first out to the side, then to the front and then straight down in quick succession.
The blast to the ground helped to slow him but then he aimed both hands down and fired a more powerful beam which propelled him up more. Since he had drawn his knees in he was able to bend his back throwing his body into a back spin and he spun a couple of times before he brought both fists down against the ground in a single strike which caused the ground to splinter a small amount. Looking at the damage after he stood up he shook his head and his tail slammed against the ground a little irritably. He still had a long way to go, and it felt like his solo training was only getting him so far, so he had to figure out something. So far he’d been on Earth a few weeks and had as of yet had no urge to go into town without hiding himself in the folds of a cloak as thoroughly as he could. He didn’t want to disturb the inhabitants of Earth, yet he still did some odd jobs for them so that he had enough to help build himself a sufficient temporary dwelling, and provide him the little sustenance that he couldn’t find a way to provide himself in the wild. Taking his cloak up he threw it over his shoulders and then looked around to make sure there weren’t any mountain climbers before he started to jump down the side of the mountain. He tried relying more on his physical strength rather than just trying to fly down both to not stand out as much, as well as to try helping build his strength. He saw some animals below and smirked, well it seemed that lunch was going to be served sooner than he had originally planned.
