Personality:
Tod enjoys his forest, and his little shrine. Though he's forced to spend most of his time there anyway. He enjoys the animals, the sweet fresh smell of his woods, and enjoys when he get to talk with people as rare as that is. Playing pranks is also very fun for him, though he only has a little he can do, and he doesn't really want to make anyone mad, or scared. He just wants to have fun!
However when it does come to dealing with people, he has a good sense of good, and bad people. Sticking to the good, and avoiding the bad. Not entirely cowardly, but with little to no interest in fighting. If he faces a great threat, or simply doesn't feel like dealing with an enemy, he might run away, or go so far as to pop over to other world. Very much a pacifist who would prefer not to fight unless he is forced to, which would require something he cares about to be at risk. Very hard to make angry, though he can become very protective of his little shrine, since it is his main connection to the physical realm. The same could be said for the beasts of the forest, and the forest itself though. He does not like seeing the things he loves destroyed.
History:
A shrine was made in his name one-thousand years ago. A simple little shrine that many minor fox gods like himself had. He was a small god of luck and fortune. And so visiting his shrine and praying for good luck with a small offering was customary for any who would visit him. He could hardly be called a guardian, but generally helpful, and good natures in his design.
He doesn't involve himself very often with the darker forces of nature and man, having a good sense of those people who were good, and evil. If he feels threatened he may pop away ahead of time. But he always returns to the shrine in hope of a gift or two, so that he might visit blessings upon those that gift him.

Tod hummed, sitting on the roof of his little shrine, enjoying the sunshine on his skin, stretching and yawning.
His ears twitched to the sound to birds chirping in the forest, a golden eye uncovered by his hair shifted to admire the shape of the blue jay that soared to his face, lifting a hand to let it perch on his finger as he smiled to the small little creature. His other hand moved up, sliding a pair of fingers along it's head, and down it's back. "Hello little friend. Having a nice day?" He asked it.
It chirped happily at him and he nodded to it, giving a toothy smile. "Yes, I am glad that you seem to be in good spirits. I always appreciate a little visitor." He said as he moved his free hand over the edge of the roof, a rice ball lifting up to his hand, one of the offerings he'd gotten early in the morning. An elder woman left it, and so he blessed her, easing the pain in her back, and preventing the cold that she would have gotten before it could reach her.
He offered the bird a bit of it, who gladly dug into it, taking grains of rice from the mass.
"Not too much now. Otherwise it will swell, and you could get sick, or worse." He noted, the bird being more cautious as it ate, but once it was satisfied in jumped from his finger to fly off.
He waved a hand. "Good bye, see me again soon." He said with a little laugh before biting into the rice ball with a chomp. It was soft, and sweet. Just the way he liked it. He did hope that lady would bring him more rice balls again soon. It was only sad to think that no matter what he did, soon she would fade from this world, and into the next. But he was sure she would be fine, she had a good soul. She'd go right where she belonged. Perhaps he would even us his power to pop over to other world and greet her before seeing her off? That would be nice. She didn't even know he existed after all, he'd never shown himself to her. If people knew he was there, truly blessing him, they could get greedy sometimes. Better that they not know, and only suspect what he did for them. But he'd never been strong enough for big magic anyway, he'd only ever been able to grant small wishes, and blessings for a small offering. Which was fine by him. Big magic was complex, and often came with a price in the end, even if neither the god that cast it, or the human it might be cast for, expected it. Getting things too easily, without struggle, would spoil them. It made people grow complacent, and soon enough would be left relying on the people around them, leeching off them. Nah, Tod would not allow himself to be used like that. He was his own fox.
