Personality:
Ken's personality is that of a wandering warrior. His sole purpose is to hone his fighting skills, and refine his power, by battling and defeating strong opponents. He rarely shows his emotions, as he would rather focus on his pursuit of strength. He will not engage opponents weaker than him, or that are helpless. In some cases, he will defend them, just to see if they’ll grow into strong beings. He takes his training seriously, as he doesn’t wish to be deterred from the path he walks on. He believes in some principle of self-worth. He despises hubris (i.e. a perceived excess of self-worth), foolish behavior, and those who rely on means other than their fists to fight or gain power (both of which would indicate a lack of the same).
He abides by the code of the warrior, and lives to improve his fighting skills and further develop his power. In order to beat even the mightiest of foes, this mind set, has brought him to wander the world with the desire for complete mastery of his martial art, and thus takes both his travels and training seriously. The training and the mastery that comes from the fight are all that he requires for satisfaction, declining the more material trappings of any various accomplishments he may gain as a warrior, he simply moves on to his next challenge once he is victorious without delay, unless he is offered food. Because of this "wandering warrior" persona and also being trained far away from modern-day culture, Ken often appears detached to others. With his focus being the strongest fighter that he can be.
History:
Power, strength, these words are what define Ken’s life. His early life was that of hardship, perpetrated by his own father. His father, Tashio no Kenryoku, the admiral of power, lusted at the sight of being the strongest warrior, and sire only the strongest children. He wanted nothing more than to be remembered as his name sake the very paragon of power itself. With that in mind, Ken was told how he was born into greatness. He had the potential to surpass any past Saiyan, whether Ken wanted to or not. This was the life that was chosen for Ken, one that would forge that of the perfect warrior. So as soon as he was able, Ken's father put him through one of the harshest training regiments possible. All in the name of power and strength, and so it was for years that were beyond his count. Yet, no matter how hard was pushed, he never gained the strength at the speed his Father wanted or was pleased.
So the abuse started, the beating, starvation, the isolation, all in hopes of providing the necessary motivation for Ken to surpass his limits. Yet it was never enough, time and time again Ken struggled to meet his Father ever raising standards. Until finally an idea struck, his Father having Ken’s mother in hand murdered her in front of him. Never once heeding the pleas of his horrified son, and terrorized wife. With the deed done his Father blamed the death of Ken’s mother on him, stating if he was strong she would live, but died a weakling just as he himself is weak. As Ken’s father left his final words to his now disowned son, “Hate me, despise me, all in the name of strength and power come after me. Not as you are, but as a true warrior of strength, because if not. Those you cherish the most will only die, because you’re too weak to stop them from dying.” With those words now etched in his heart Ken seeks the power to avenge his mother, and never see someone die due to his own weak power. With his father's words, Ken made his way to earth. It was a backwater enough planet, that Ken could stew, and brew the anger that now resides in his heart.
Sample RP:
The air was cold, it was always cold. No matter what happened it was cold here. He didn’t know why he had to train here, or why his Dad insisted on him getting stronger. Yes he was a Saiyan, and could possibly become an elite Saiyan. Still was it necessary for him to go through all this mess just so his family name can be elevated, and for what? What would the gain be, if he did become an elite Saiyan warrior. It was nothing, worth concern to him; power, strength, and status didn’t have any meaning to him at all. Still This was his Dad, and he learned pretty quick to do as he’s told, though the soreness of the last training session hadn’t left. He let out a groan, as his mind raced over the thought of what today was going to hold. None of his thoughts were particularly exciting, he knew whatever his father had in mind it was going to be painful. All to abuse his Zenkai, and give him massive power boost, but for what? He knows his father has some sort of plans for him. Even though he’s fairly young, he wasn’t naive, well to be fair he wasn’t completely naive to the ways of the world. As he continued walking the air got thinner, the snow thicker, as it crunched with every step he took. He looked to see a massive steel building. It looked like the steel mills that would build the ships that took the Saiyan warriors to go conquer some poor planet. As Ken looked around he could see that time had not been kind to the warehouse, rust had taken over for the former steel that shinned in the light. It didn’t help that the clouds covered the sun, as to hide the light and announce the coming pain he would experience.
“Come boy you’re lagging” Ken heard his father’s raspy voice urged him to move on.
“Yes Father.” Ken replied meekly, his father flashed those cold malice filled eyes at him. He must’ve picked up the fear in his voice. Ken tried to hide it as best as he could, he knew his father distaste for any and every perceived weakness.
“When will you grasp the power that is dormant inside you? You have the potential to be so great, yet you rather live a weakling, upon the mercies of the strong.” Ken's father said, as they made their way inside one of the buildings. It was dark, as if what little light outside, dared not enter into the premise of this dark dwelling. His eyes tried to adjust to the darkness.
“What the hell? I can’t see a thing.” Ken said.
“Hpmh.” Replied his father. “Don’t worry I’ll get the lights, then I’m going to see how much resolve you have.”
“Uh huh.” Ken said as his eyes began to slowly adjust with each light that flicked on.
“Come here boy.” His father barked.
Ken turned his face, as the last light came one, when he saw his father. His jaw dropped, his eyes bulged. He felt his heart race against his chest. He stood there looking on, his body began to tremble, as he tried to lift one of his legs, it felt like it weighed a ton. Sweat started to pour down his face, as he shook his head slowly. He looked on, his mind racing with wild thoughts, never settling. Tears flowed down his face, when he finally dropped to his knees.
“God, you're pathetic. All you’re going to do is sit there and cry?” His father said, as he walked to what Ken was looking at, grabbing his tied up wife. “Well boy I think you should try to do something, other then whatever the hell you’re doing now.” Ken’s father continued, as he stood behind his chained wife. Her eyes wide open, looking at Ken’s father, as if pleading with him. Whatever she was saying, was muffled with the gag on her mouth. “Come on boy, lets see, if you can muster something to do something about this.” Ken’s father continued. “Wow you’re drenched dear.” Ken’s father said, as sweat and tears poured down his face. She yanked, and yanked at the chain that held her in place. “Don’t try, you can’t escape.”
Ken prostrated himself, “P-p-plea-se. Stop.” The words trembled out of Ken’s mouth
“Tsk. Really? That’s all you’re going to do. Well I can’t blame you, the weak will tremble at the strong. Begging for mercy, and what’s bad for you? There’s no mercy here to be had.” Ken’s father said, as he placed his palm on his wife, letting out a ki blast that escaped from her heart. “ Hate me, despise me, all in the name of strength and power come after me. Not as you are, but as a true warrior of strength, because if not. Those you cherish the most will only die, because you’re too weak to stop them from dying. Don’t ever stay like the pathetic weakling that you are.”
Ken closed his, he clenched his jaw bearing his teeth. His muscles tensed, as he started running towards his father, shouting the entire way with his fist held tight.
Ken’s father with an effortless swiped, smacked Ken away, as the world was growing dark. He still heard his father's words. “Hate me, despise me, all in the name of strength and power come after me. Not as you are, but as a true warrior of strength, because if not. Those you cherish the most will only die, because you’re too weak to stop them from dying.”
Ken opened his eyes, he heard the birds chirping to the early morning sun. It’s warmth gazing at his skin. “Hmmm, it was just a dream.” Ken said. “How long ago was it? Damn I don’t remember.” He said as he looked that the bird perched at the branch above him. He sat up, as he put his shirt back on. “Doesn’t matter, I need to get stronger, and kill that bastard of a man.” Ken said as the bird cocked its head. Ken grabbed his bag, and started to make his way to the nearest town, hoping to see what awaited him there.
