Personality: Kintaro is a very loyal person, often times to a fault. The moment he finds himself putting trust and loyalty towards a person, it's hard to know when to break away when the moment calls for it. He always fought fiercely for the sake of protecting those dear to him and never strayed from that path. But despite this quality in him, it's hard to get through that all-business exterior. Due to the business he works in, he's become rather hardened and difficult to read.
But he has been known to have a few weaknesses.
Family.
At a very young age, he managed to have two children that he was left to raise on his own. He acted as both mother and father, taking care of a daughter and son. Children is likely the most effective way to break through the barriers he finds himself putting up. He's been known to be quite fatherly, even towards kids that aren't his own. Even if they aren't related by blood, he tries his best to help them on the right paths and hopefully away from his own footsteps.
History:
Black Lightning
"Truth be told, I never wanted to be apart of this life. I always wanted to go into music and make a career out of it. But I just couldn't turn my back on Takeda and Kasai."
Kintaro was born into the Yagyu family, one that was heavily in the mafia world. At a very young age, the children of the Yagyu are to go through rigorous training and then finally a ritual in order to conjure an oni. A family that were born human, with normal Japanese characteristics, fused with an Oni that chooses them and gifts them their power; alongside green eyes and two-toned black and blonde hair. Kintaro wasn't any different, though he was urged to learn it faster due to the influence of his father. Yakumo Yagyu was well-known as the torturer of the family and he often implemented those tactics on his very own son, causing physical and mental scarring.
At the age of 5, Kintaro earned his Oni and power: Raijin and black lightning.
Throughout his younger years, he was forced to train his powers and to become the bodyguard of the next don. The next don also happened to be the closest person to Kintaro, his younger cousin, Takeda, who he actually saw as a brother. The two of them were closer than most of the family, which helped them stay close. Takeda, Kintaro and his little sister Kasai went to public high school, despite their hair and eye coloring making them notorious by name throughout the city. Perhaps they were cocky, but really it was just confidence in their own skills to stay alive by their teenage years.
Kintaro met a woman named Kana in school, the two of them becoming sweethearts at the fresh age of 15. Despite their young age, they knew it was meant to be and had children just a year later. With Kaede and Rika born, Kintaro took it upon himself to find a home for his newly formed family. Despite their age, the Yagyu had been in wealth over the years due to their dealings with the underground, so a recently sized home for the four of them was found and purchased just in time to welcome their children home. This was mostly due to Kintaro not trusting his parents near his own children, considering their cruelty in raising both himself and Kasai.
While Kana and Kintaro had their children at 16 years of age, they didn't get married until they were 23. When questioned about why they waited so long, Kintaro merely responded with: "Kana wanted the children to be old enough to have memories of the wedding and to be able to be included." Those years that rolled by were happy ones, despite the dark work that Kintaro often had to leave and do. It was one of those missions that came to his own undoing. Takeda gave the word to assault a warehouse that the yakuza had been held up in and slaughter all inside. Kintaro, being loyal to Takeda of all people, didn't even question it and fulfilled his mission.
The couple were only married for three years, before the yakuza stormed into their home and assassinated Kana while she was in the midst of making breakfast. When Kintaro came home to his wife dead and children mortified, he went on a killing spree, not even taking any precautions to what could happen to him. And it was then that he was arrested and sentenced to prison for six years. Considering who he was and what family he belonged to, he was sentenced to death row. That didn't quite work out , for when he turned 32 years old, he was released and picked up by Takeda.
The Betrayed
"I gave them my all and I was stabbed in the back repeatedly until they left me to die."
The months had rolled on like normal, everyone falling back into routine. But it was the fighting with the yakuza that was beginning to pick the family apart. They were being kidnapped, experimented, tortured and killed. The Yagyu were dying. And while this happened, something started to snap in the depths of Takeda's head. His orders were a lot weirder than normal and he often snapped when someone questioned his authority. Something inside the man had changed. And while Kintaro wanted to take his children and abandon the family, he no longer could. During his time in prison, his son Kaede had grown attached to Takeda and often took his side of his own father at times.
There wasn't any escaping it anymore.
Soon, fingers were being pointed at Kintaro's back. He was being called a 'rat', two-faced, a *traitor*. Rumors were spreading, all of it leaving from Takeda's back as he tried to cover up the wrongdoings that were being aimed at him. His family started to turn against him, including his own son and sister. The only person that was on his side, was his daughter Rika. The two of them tried to escape during the night, but they were hunted down like dogs. When realizing that they both weren't going to get out of this alive, Kintaro told Rika to run as he skidded to a stop and turned to face the very family he had bled for time and time again. But this time, they were going to make him bleed themselves.
It was here that he was met with the face of his own son, bleeding out as he stumbled towards his father. An apology reached Kintaro's ear as his son died in his arms, telling him it had been Takeda.
A thunderstorm rolled overhead, fitting for the Black Lightning to go out on.
The battle was hard fought, but in the end, he was left to lay there bleeding. The blonde in his hair started to fade to black, his emeralds shifting to caramel as the Oni inside of him was nearly sucked right out of his body. He stared in the face of Takeda, who was the one killing him and he could only let out a laugh and a smirk as he uttered a single sentiment to his cousin. "Do it."
It was azure flames that came raining across the area then, the Blue Flame Don and his detective Akito standing on the opposing side. They were to be his rescuers. His consciousness would leave him then, unknowing to the fate of his daughter Rika and just what this don had in store for him whenever he'd wake up again.
Sample RP:
"Unfortunately, this Yagyu will need to be killed if they continue to refuse to come along. It'd be too much of a hassle to get them back to Japan in a body bag."
A sigh exhaled from Kintaro's nostrils as he recalled this information, not exactly enjoying the idea of killing a fellow family member. But.. they needed to understand that even if they ran, they couldn't be free or hide forever. All Yagyu were tracked and hunted back down again eventually; it's why Kintaro never did it in his youth. Even when he didn't want to be in the world of the mafia and fight wars for his father, he realized that he had to, otherwise it'd be his own life at the end of their pistols. That's just how the underground worked.
Acidic hues shifted towards his sister, Kasai, who was sitting beside him on the airplane which was already preparing to land. The flight took forever.. so if this brat gave them a hard time, it was needless to say how cranky the siblings would be. "He's apparently a model and has a big sweet tooth." He read off the paper briefly to Kasai, at least giving her the basics until they landed.
Once they did, however, they'd notice the vast difference between Japan and New York City. Cars raced by, horns blaring as people walked throughout the streets and took up every inch on the sidewalks. Various hair colors were dyed bright as their own natural yellow, making them blend in just a bit easier than in Japan. Kintaro couldn't help but to stare in slight wonder at such a thing, the colors ranged from blue to pink -- pastel to neon. He shook himself from his stupor, however, and led the way towards the apartment in question that they needed to investigate.
The Yagyu's connections reached far and wide and eyes were always watching the Yagyu who had run away. The bodyguard exhaled a puff of smoke from past the cigarette that dangled past his lips and rose a single leather gloved hand to knock at the door. Before his knuckles could reach the surface, the door parted open, giving way to the boy in question that they had come here to see. Hair dyed black and sapphire colored eyes - contact lenses. Slight irritation knitted Kintaro's brow from seeing such a thing, if only because it was punishable if the Don had seen it with his own eyes.
His lips parted open, his tone deep and laced with a somewhat heavy accent, yet it commanded attention ever the same. "Saisa Yagyu?" Both Kintaro and Kasai's hair and eye colors would have been enough to give away that they were apart of the family; they were older members that never chose to hide. "You've refused the orders to return home." Arms folded over his chest as he glared past those black tinted glasses, yet the glow from his eyes continued to shine past the lenses as they looked the younger boy over. "Orders have come to retrieve you." While he could have easily threatened him, that they only needed his blood if he didn't cooperate, he didn't want to go down that route just yet.
