WELCOME TO DRAGON BALL SUMMIT
From all of us here on Dragon Ball Summit, we welcome you to the site! If you're reading this then you're either likely entertaining the idea of sticking around and becoming a member, you've already decided to do so, or already have! Regardless of which fits you this thread is designed to take you through all the relevant information on site systems, recommendations, and information you might find helpful in not only initially joining the site but also your early stages here, all wrapped up in an easy to read, step-by-step guide!
And so, without further gilding the lily and with no more ado, let us begin!
And so, without further gilding the lily and with no more ado, let us begin!
JOINING
1) To be a Canon or not to be? This naturally feels like a good starting point when joining a site. Do you want to be a canon character or do you want to be a custom one? If you had a Canon character in mind then check out the CANON CHARACTER LIST and see if they're available. Are they? Great! That's you done with this step. If you haven't got a character in mind then may I suggest you check out our fantastic CHARACTER TRAITS page! Within you'll find what special and unique traits are linked to each Canon character, which may help you make your decision. Though if the character you want isn't available then maybe there's someone else in the Canon list that catches your eye? No? Well, there's always a Custom character! Regardless of your choice, though this may be of extra help if you want to design a Custom character, you may want to check out our RACES & ABILITIES page to help you.
2) The Story & The Rules. Now that you're well on your way to joining, I think it's time to check out the SITE PLOT, which will help you design your character's history so they fit in the right place in the DBZ timeline. Also, while you're there, you can read up on the Site Plot- these rules were not meant to be broken. At this stage you may also be interested in checking out the Stats and Alignment systems. Thankfully, they're also both in the above link!
3) Power Resides in a Name. Now you're well and truly ready to create your character! First things first, if you haven't already, create an account on the forum using your characters name! If the name is already taken (from an old member, perhaps) that's not an issue. Just pick anything and a name change submission can be made at a later date.
4) One of Us! One of Us! Now all you need to do from here is fill out the JOINING APPLICATION TEMPLATE. On this page, you will find the coding for actual application as well as all the possible links you'll need on helping you put together your application. Once you're completed post your app HERE and a member of staff should look at your application within 24 hours - if not, feel free to give us a poke and let us know you're still waiting! At that point, if nothing is wrong with it, you will be approved. If, however, there are any issues then our staff will actively work with you to work through them until it's fit to be approved.
If you are referred to us by one of our existing members, be sure to note this on your joining application and both you and the person who referred you can claim a 2,000z, 400 XP, 1,000 SP, 5 TP bonus on your next update!
And that's it! You've been approved and are an official member of Dragon Ball Summit! Congratulations and welcome! Now, this is where things get truly interesting...

5) Now Stop... it's Profile Time! Now you're a bonafide member of the site you need to set up your Character Profile. These are mandatory for all members, whether you're a Canon or a Custom. You can use our pre-made PROFILE TEMPLATE to help you out in this regards, but that's not to say you have to keep it in this layout. You're able to customize these however you like, adding any In Character information you want to. However, it must contain the basic, core information that's on the original template as you will be required to update this constantly to include your ever-changing character information.
6) You're Going on an Adventure! Now it's time to start your In Character journey. You are now able to post in the In Character universe. Where did you select as you're starting planet? Whatever it was, that's where you begin! You may be wondering what can you do? Well, you can write Personal Sagas or you can work through one of our pre-set Missions. You can even SPAR in a friendly fight with another member or, if you're feeling dangerous, BATTLE against another member - but battling involves risks, such as potential death if you lose! Each has their advantages, give their own rewards, and differ greatly from each other. If you're struggling to find someone to post with, why not check out our Discord to meet and greet with the other players?
7) Reap your Rewards. When you're writing out threads please make sure that you post your Word Count at the bottom of each post and total it at the end of your final post. It helps the staff to grade your threads quicker and more efficiently! When your thread is completed it's time to get it graded! Now you go to the GRADE MY RP thread and post a link to your thread and any potential boosted gains you might have from equipment, items or add-ons. From there a member of staff will grade your work and give you your hard earned rewards!
8) I Wanna be the Very Best... Like no one Ever Was! Now you’ve done some RP’ing and gained some rewards, the next step is to Update! First of all, you need to fill out the UPDATE TEMPLATE with all your relevant information. Make sure to link your completed threads and the rewards you gained from them! Follow the rules highlighted in the template and complete it all. Once done, post your update HERE and change the update status to "ready!" to let staff know its good to be looked at. Updates are usually done on a Sunday, where a member of staff will go through all the details, correct any mistakes, and then finally approve them. You can post an update once a week, but when you do please make sure to use the same thread for all your updates, to keep them all together! Once your Update has been approved, you must update your new information on your Character Profile and you're done!
And there we have it! Those are the basics that you need to know, or might find helpful, in getting yourself started, set up and established on our site! Of course, there’s a lot more to the site than just those 8 points, but most of it will fall into place as you continue as a member. If you’re unsure about anything, need more information, or have any questions at all, then feel free to ask a member of staff for help. Alternatively, bring it up in cbox or join our dedicated discord server - all of our members are friendly and helpful!
Most of all, and this may be the most important point yet, remember to have fun!
